SPD is “Freezin’ for a Reason” next Saturday
Springfield, Mo. – The sixth annual Polar Plunge, hosted by the Springfield Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D, is Saturday, March 5. Brave plungers from the Springfield Police Department and the community are “Freezin’ for a Reason” at the Ski Shack Cable Park Lake. Proceeds benefit training and competition for more than 1,400 Special Olympics Missouri athletes in southwest Missouri.
Join the Springfield Police Department’s team for an icy dip for a good cause or create a new team. The Polar Plunge is open to anyone 10 years or older. Plunge times begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m. Teams and individual plungers sign up for a set time to register, plunge, change and depart. Spectators are welcome.
For adventurous plungers younger than 10, the Pee Wee Plunge starts at noon.
Precautions are in place to ensure a safe in-person event including staggered start times and social distancing. An at-home plunge option is also available.

Each participant must raise at least $75 to participate. All participants will receive an official Polar Plunge commemorative shirt, bragging rights for freezing your fur off, and a plunger meal. Incentives are available for reaching certain fundraising goals.
