FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Springfield, Mo. – On Saturday, the Springfield Police Department and the Springfield Fire Department faced off in a sold-out charity hockey game benefiting the Greene County 100 Club. More than 1,000 supporters filled the Jordan Valley Ice Park and raised $7,300 through ticket sales and other fundraisers, making it the most successful event to date. Both departments’ teams are comprised of current employees who volunteer their time and skills, and play for the love of the game. The Greene County 100 Club is a charitable organization whose purpose is to help the surviving families of firefighters and law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The support from the Police vs. Fire Charity Hockey Game helps the organization provide support to 11 Greene County law enforcement departments and 15 fire departments.
Interested in playing in next year’s game? Any current police or fire employee can volunteer to play. Both the police and fire department are actively recruiting now!
