76th Springfield Police Academy Welcomes 22 Recruits
Springfield, Mo. – Members of the Springfield Police Department welcomed 22 recruits to the 76th Springfield Police Academy today.
Recruits, including three women and 19 men, come from across the country including Minnesota, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and throughout Missouri. Their backgrounds show a variety of work and education experience including the military and previous law enforcement experience. While in the academy, recruits will spend the next six months completing 1,100 hours of intense law enforcement training.
Upon graduation, recruits work with an experienced field-training officer (FTO) for approximately 520 hours (13 weeks) of on-the-job training. Following the completion of the FTO program, new officers are assigned to the Uniform Operations Bureau.
