Inaugural I-Create Manufacturing Career Day to Host 1,000 Area Students
The inaugural I-Create Manufacturing Career Day is set for Friday, October 28, at the Robert W. Plaster Center for Advanced Manufacturing on the campus of Ozarks Technical Community College. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will kick off the day at 8:30 am along with a proclamation by Mayor Ken McClure.
“Over 1,000 area high school students will experience the innovative world of advanced manufacturing with hands on activities and demonstrations,” said Ericka Schmeeckle, Assistant Director of Workforce Development for the City of Springfield. “The manufacturing sector continues to grow in this region and offers good paying jobs with career advancement opportunities and many benefits,” Schmeeckle said.
“We are incredibly excited to host high school students from around the area and introduce them to careers in the manufacturing field,” said Michael Eaton, Executive Director of Missouri Association of Manufacturers. “We are grateful to the manufacturers who are participating in this event to help educate the next generation of workforce,” Eaton added.
Several community partners have made this event possible including Missouri Association of Manufacturers, Ozarks Technical Community College, Missouri State University, Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, SMC Packaging and the city’s Department of Workforce Development housed at the Missouri Job Center.
