This week’s COVID-19 public vaccination opportunities: October 24-28

COVID-19 News

As the end of October approaches, the Health Department is continuing to encourage everyone to get their COVID-19 primary series and boosters as well as their annual flu vaccination.  With the cold weather starting, respiratory illnesses are more likely to spread due to people being inside more often and therefore spread an illness to each other more easily.

A person can reduce their risk of severe illness or hospitalization from COVID-19 by staying up to date on their vaccinations. COVID-19 hospitalizations are high with 53 individuals hospitalized in Greene County hospitals as of Oct. 19.

Additionally, flu vaccines are available to uninsured or underinsured adults at some COVID-19 clinics hosted by the Health Department which can be found below. Getting both your flu and COVID-19 vaccine in or around the same time is considered safe.

The Health Department is also reminding everyone to take precautions to avoid the spread of COVID-19 and the flu, like staying home when sick and getting tested if you are showing COVID-19 symptoms.

Individuals who receive a primary (first or second) dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or their first booster shot at a Health Department clinic will receive a $50 gift card while supplies last.
