The Springfield Fire Department (SFD) is pleased to announce the appointment of James Ludden as its new division fire chief of safety and training.
“I am very excited to welcome Chief Ludden to the Fire Department. He is an experienced chief officer with an extensive and varied background, and is widely regarded for his professional demeanor and exemplary leadership qualities,” said Fire Chief David Pennington.
Ludden joins the department with more than 20 years of fire service experience, most recently serving as a battalion chief with the Battlefield Fire Protection District.
Ludden has a master’s degree in public service and safety leadership from Drury University and a bachelor of arts degree in speech communications and theater from Southwest Baptist University. He is an executive fire officer through the National Fire Academy and serves as a board member of the Missouri Fire Safety Education Commission.
Ludden will be sworn in at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 8 in the lobby of the Busch Municipal Building, 840 N. Boonville Ave.
