SPD Captain graduates from FBI National Academy
Springfield, Mo. – On Dec. 8, 2022, Captain Eric Reece was honored as a graduate of the 284th session of the FBI National Academy. Nationally, less than one percent of law enforcement officers are selected to attend the program.
“Continuing education for department staff, officers, and commanders is a cornerstone of effectively serving our community,” Police Chief Paul Williams said. “I am proud to have Captain Reece join the ranks of FBI National Academy graduates from the Springfield Police Department.”
Reece has been in law enforcement for 24 years including 22 years with the Springfield Police Department and currently serves in the Uniform Operations Bureau as the southside captain. Reece has previously served in special investigations and criminal investigations as well as several other assignments.
Internationally known for its academic excellence since it was established in 1935, the FBI National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced leadership, communication, investigative, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
The 284th session included 237 law enforcement officers from 49 states and the District of Columbia as well as members of law enforcement agencies from 25 countries, five military organizations, and five federal civilian organizations.
