Fassnight Stormwater Improvement Project Update
March 17, 2021
The City's contractor (Hartman & Co.) plans to install the closure barricades and signage for the permanent closure of Kings Avenue between Bennett Street and Brookside Drive on Wednesday or Thursday (March 17/18), weather permitting.
In preparation for the project, construction equipment will begin to be brought onsite and staged on Kings Avenue near the end of this week. Construction is expected to begin around the Kings Avenue bridge the week of March 22.
Temporary erosion control will be installed onsite to prepare for the channel construction including temporary stone construction entrance, temporary stone/riprap diversion berm, tree protection fencing, and erosion control perimeter sock around the construction zone.
As part of the construction at Kings Avenue, residents should expect concrete demolition debris, excavation and stockpiling of soils, concrete formwork, and installation of stone riprap. Ultimately, the construction at Kings Avenue will be completed with a decorative limestone headwall to complement the existing limestone details on the Art Museum Amphitheater and Phelps Grove Park.
Based on the preliminary construction schedule, Hartman anticipates construction in the vicinity of Kings Avenue in March through April. They will proceed to sanitary sewer improvements and channel grading east of Kings in April and May. The City will continue to provide estimated construction schedule and updates throughout construction.
