Fassnight Stormwater Improvement Project Update
July 7, 2021
Hartman & Co. has begun grading on the south channel slope and will continue through the end of the week.
Eventually, topsoil will be placed to prepare the south slope for landscape crews to install turf reinforcement mat (TRM), native seed mix, and erosion control blanket (ECB) materials. The ECB material is planned to be installed on the north channel slope this week. The ECB is a biodegradable coconut, straw and natural fiber-based material that has a similar appearance to a burlap sack. It will provide protection to the topsoil while the native seed establishes. Once the natives are fully established, the ECB will no longer be visible. Additional planting in the channel including native shrubs, trees and grass plugs are planned for installation later this fall.
Other construction items such as block retaining wall, slope paving and stone veneer have been pushed back to August as materials are being secured.
